ECU Test System
The Challenge:
An aerospace company specialising in unmanned aviation required a PCBA test system for their flexible electronic control unit. They needed two identical test systems to perform a comprehensive set of testing that included unit programming with unique serial number, power supply testing, digital and analog I/O, motor drivers, etc. The communications interface needed to be via a high speed CAN bus.
The Solution:
Wired-in Software proposed a NI PXI based platform, which included a multifunction DAQ card, swtich matrix, and a CAN interface card. In addition we had need of a programmable power supply, and electronic load. But the critical component in our solution included a custom interface board to perform signal conditioning, signal routing, switch multiplexing, and protection circuitry. The software was developed using NI TestStand, LabVIEW and DQMH.
Specification:
- NI PXI and 3rd party instrumentation – DAQ, CAN, Switches, eLoad, Programmable power supply, Firmware programmer
- Interface electronics – resistive loads, signal conditioning, signal multiplexing, protection circuits, motion control
- NI TestStand and LabVIEW test sequencer, with WiS Test System operator interface
- Limits/parameters managed in a CSV file for easy edit
- Diagnostics utility for troubleshooting
