Introducing the DQMH® Podcast

Wired-in is proud to announce the DQMH® podcast.

The DQMH® Podcast has been created for the NI LabVIEW™ community.

As the name suggests, it’s focus is centered around the Delacor Queued Message Handler (DQMH®) toolkit (a framework for NI LabVIEW™). You can learn more about how it’s applied, it’s strengths and weaknesses, and get a sense of whether its a good fit for you.

But it also goes well beyond DQMH®, to cover general LabVIEW™, frameworks and design patterns, and general software engineering concepts like Unit testing, and more.

I am a fan of audio podcasts, and after listening to every vishots and Quick drop podcast, I was hungry for more LabVIEW™ content. I was hoping for a long time someone else would come along and create a podcast. Then I realised I could contribute with this.

Currently, there are four available episodes.

In our latest episode, we speak to Sam Taggart from SAS Workshops. Sam and I have worked together on DQMH® projects in the past. Sam is a big advocate for software engineering best practises, and so if you’re keen to improve your organisation’s software development methodology, you should definitely check out what he has to say, and then check out his upcoming workshops.

In the previous episode, we spoke to all of the DQMH® trusted advisors (Fab from Delacor, Sam from SAS, Joerg from Hampel-soft, Matthias from Studiobods, Olivier from Wovalab). This was a fun session to create. Check this episode out if you want to gain a broad perspective of how several LabVIEW™ champions choose DQMH® as their “hammer”, and apply it to help solve their customer’s problems.

In the second episode, Fab from Delacor takes us back to how DQMH® started, and gives us a lot of behind-the-scenes insight, into what it takes to bring us new DQMH® versions. Lots of great detail here – especially for those if you’re interested in putting out a tool for the LabVIEW community. This chat went for so long, I split it into two sessions:

In the very first episode, I give an introduction into DQMH®, for those that have not used it yet. Gives you a bit of pretext to the following episodes.

I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as I have enjoyed putting them together. If anything, it’s been a fun challenge to learn about what it takes to putting together a production like this.

I welcome any constructive criticism, so please don’t be shy if you have a suggestion! Or if there is a specific topic you’d like to learn more about it, let me know in the comments below!

It’s available on most popular platforms. Whatever platform you’re listening to it on, please subscribe and like! If your favourite podcast platform is missing, let me know and I’ll try and get this podcast included on that platform.

Our plan is to have an interview with every DQMH® Trusted Advisors, which will take us out to the end of 2020. We are still working out what we’ll do for 2021.

Thanks for listening.
